The Cripple Creek Theatre Company is a professional, non-profit organization dedicated to producing dramatic works of cultural, historical, and political relevance in order to provoke the general public into social action.
The Company began in the Spring of 2006 when its founders, Andrew Kingsley and Andrew Vaught, committed themselves to presenting theatrical works of social importance. Inspired by influences ranging from The Group Theatre, to Aristotle and The Band, the two alumni of Kenyon College moved down to New Orleans and presented their first show, Tennessee Williams’ The Kingdom of Earth. In the years since, the Company has produced more than thirty shows that have employed large, diverse casts which reflect the cultural makeup of New Orleans.
Cripple Creek maintains open auditions with the goal of increasing opportunity and communication between New Orleans artists. The company has grown from two to ten and has consistently increased its profile and reputation for producing challenging, exciting, and rarely-seen work in New Orleans.
The Company relies on support from individuals, businesses, and foundations in order to finance our operating costs. Making plays is an expensive business, and through your generous support we are able to keep ticket prices affordable and work to serve a non-traditional theatre audience. The Cripple Creek Theatre Company is exempt under section 501(C)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
